Father/daughter cave explorers Nel and Apa descend into "the Maw" on a risky expedition in search of a mysterious source of clean energy. Beneath the surface, the rational world fractures and the laws of physics melt away. Their dreamlike descent melds Ancient Greek drama, Taíno folklore, and cosmic horror into a crystalline truth: we are creatures of labor and suffering, and the plain sight of our destiny is the cruelest thing of all.

Thebes—a sparse, ash-covered, ancient nordic village—collapses beneath the weight of recent carnage. The chorus offer up Dauðalög, funeral dirges, to the gods. Polyneices’ body is left for the wolves in the foggy depths of a neighboring forest. Antigone, veiled, is faced with a terrible choice: defy the authority of the gods, or let her brother’s corpse rot.

New Relic Theatre’s high-spirits, 75-minute adaptation of As You Like It weds Shakespeare’s most famous pastoral comedy and the nimble folk sound of Old-Time and Bluegrass music.
Alongside some of New York’s finest actors, performers, and Bluegrass fastpickers, As You Like It will transport its audience from the patio of a Brooklyn bar to the mountains of Virginia, circa 1971.
